Job summary

Lehigh Valley Health Network is seeking a Part-Time Chaplain for day shift to provide assessment and spiritual care to patients, families and staff across the network. The role includes crisis support, education for students and staff, and collaboration with ethics and palliative teams.

Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least 3 years as a hospital chaplain, with CPE experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Education, Theology or a related field.
• 3 years as a hospital or facilities chaplain.
• Familiarity with the religious and/or spiritual beliefs and practices of various faiths, groups, and denominations.
• Skill at monitoring/assessing performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action.
• Good stewardship of time, energy, physical, and financial resources.

Responsibilities

• Provides assessment and spiritual care through appropriate intervention and referral of patients, families and staff.
• Serves as liaison between hospital staff, patients and families during challenging or traumatic situations.
• Maintains an ongoing relationship with staff on designated rounding units and offers invocations, blessings and benedictions at network functions.

Serves as the liaison between the hospital staff, patients and families during challenging or traumatic situations. **Job Duties*** Maintains a pastoral presence by establishing and nurturing a ministry of accompaniment that assists patients/families in navigating challenging times in a meaningful and potentially transformative way.* Assesses spiritual needs of patients and provides appropriate interventions with consideration to growth development needs and demographics.* Promotes faith development, mindfulness, and reflective living as essential to the emergence of the whole person.* Serves as crisis support to patients, families and staff during traumas and alerts and difficult decision-making moments.* Administers education to students, staff, and volunteers regarding role of chaplains and spiritual care.* Participates in ethics, palliative, hospice and/or cancer et al interdisciplinary teams as requested.* Maintains an on-going relationship with the staff on designated rounding units.* Offers invocations, blessings and benedictions at network functions or on-site memorial services. **Minimum Qualifications*** Bachelor’s Degree Psychology, Education, Theology or related field.* 3 years as a hospital or facilities chaplain.* Familiarity with the religious and/or spiritual beliefs and practices of various faiths, groups, and denominations.* Skill at monitoring/assessing performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action.* Use of good stewardship of time, energy, physical, and financial resources. **Additional Qualifications*** At least 1 unit of CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education) in a clinical setting required, 2-4 units preferred. **Physical Demands** Lift and carry 7 lbs., continuous sitting >67%, frequent keyboard use/repetitive motion, frequent fine motor activity/wrist position deviation.
