Job summary

The Protestant Music Director at Vandenberg Space Force Base in Lompoc, CA will provide music leadership and accompaniment for Protestant worship services, preparing worship music, leading worship, and coordinating weekly selections with the Chaplain.

The role involves directing volunteer musicians, leading rehearsals, and assisting with chapel audio/visual equipment and government-furnished music materials.

Qualifications

• Must have at least 2 years of church music experience as a Music Director or primary musician.
• Proficient in piano/keyboard or guitar; read, transpose, and perform music.
• Experience with traditional hymns, contemporary worship, gospel, choral, and congregational music.
• High school diploma or equivalent and strong English communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and perform music for weekly Protestant worship services and special services.
• Lead rehearsals and direct volunteer musicians, choirs, or praise teams.
• Coordinate music selections with the Lead Protestant Chaplain.
• Provide accompaniment and musical leadership throughout worship services.
• Assist with chapel audio/visual equipment, presentation slides, and Government-furnished music materials.
