Job summary

Tutor Perini Corporation in Los Angeles, CA seeks a Construction Change Order Engineer for their project office. Applicants must be eligible to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship or transfers now or in the future. Five+ years of estimating experience and construction background are preferred.

Reporting to the Project Manager and Senior Project Engineer, this role involves developing change order scopes, pricing, negotiations, and cost proposals for design-bid-build projects.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of relevant work experience in construction change orders.
• Two or more years in the construction industry with emphasis on estimating.
• Experience with fixed price, design-build, and/or self-perform estimating is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Review Owner ordered change documents for accuracy and scope.
• Develop scope of work packages to define project work requirements through narratives, checklists, and quantity take-off for change order pricing.
• Solicit subcontractor/vendor quotations, prepare and distribute change order document packages, respond to inquiries.
• Evaluate and analyze subcontractor/vendor proposals to ensure accuracy in scope (quantities, schedule, inclusions, exclusions).
• Prepare subcontractors/vendors price analysis sheets.
• Coordinate with operations on this design-bid-build project to support cost and schedule proposals (CSP).
• Finalize cost proposals for submission to the client.
• Assist with change order negotiations and finalize terms and price.
• Assist with purchasing and definition of subcontractor/vendor agreements scope.
• Work in a team with multiple changes at the same time.
• Understand construction documents and develop scopes of work.
• Utilize MS Office Suite; take-off software and estimating tools are a plus.

DESCRIPTION

As a Construction Change Order Engineer at Tutor Perini Corporation, reporting to the Project Manager and/or Senior Project Engineer, you will have the opportunity to:

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Review Owner ordered extra work documents for accuracy and completeness and develop questions as they relate to assigned scope of work
• Develop scope of work packages to define project work requirements through narratives, checklists, and quantity take-off for change order pricing
• Solicit subcontractor/vendor quotations, prepare and distribute change order document packages, respond to inquiries, being knowledgeable of respective scopes of work and responsibilities
• Evaluate and analyze subcontractor/vendor proposals to ensure accuracy in scope. (Quantities, schedule, inclusions, exclusions, etc.)
• Prepare subcontractors/vendors price analysis sheets
• Coordinate with operations team on this design-bid-build project to support development of cost and schedule proposals (CSP)
• Finalize cost proposals for submission to the client
• Assist with change order negotiations and finalize agreed upon terms, conditions, and price
• Assist with purchasing and definition of subcontractor/ vendor agreements scope of work
• Ability to work in a team environment with multiple Changes at the same time
• Ability to understand construction documents and develop scopes of work
• Good interpersonal and communication skills both written and oral
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel and Word primarily)
• Working knowledge of take-off software or similar a plus
• Working knowledge of estimating software

REQUIREMENTS

• Five (5) or more years of relevant work experience
• Two (2) or more years of experience in the construction industry with an emphasis on estimating
• Experience in fixed price, design-build, and/ or self-perform estimating a plus
• Experience with Government projects a plus
• Experience with sitework, concrete, utilities, systems, or rail, a plus
• Candidates local to downtown Los Angeles, California preferred
