Job summary

Tutor Perini Corporation is seeking a Field Engineer to join our office in Los Angeles, CA. You will provide technical engineering information to construction management and crafts to ensure heavy civil work complies with design, standards, and codes.

Responsibilities include reading contracts and drawings, preparing schedules, managing RFIs/submittals, coordinating with the project team, and maintaining daily field documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
• 5–7 years heavy civil construction experience preferred.
• Experience with surveying techniques, equipment, standards and procedures.
• Commitment to safety and quality; OSHA knowledge.
• Strong communication and detail orientation.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret contracts, drawings, specifications, standards to maintain construction schedule.
• Resolve drawing interpretations, conflicts and interferences.
• Prepare, update and distribute work activity schedules and notify stakeholders.
• Prepare RFIs and submittals; coordinate pre-construction meetings.
• Monitor field construction processes and provide layout checks and technical reviews.
• Maintain safety and quality standards on site; ensure as‑builts are updated.

This includes performing tasks that include, but are not limited to:RESPONSIBILITIES:Read and interpret Contract, Drawings, Specifications, Standards, and related technical documents in order to maintain the construction schedule in coordination with project-wide activities.Research and resolve drawing interpretations problems, conflicts, interferences, and the like.Prepares, updates and distributes work activity schedules/updates, and communicates across discipline groups and agencies to ensure proper advance notifications and coordination of start times.Manage the preparation of RFI’s and related Submittals.Support planning and technical issues. Prepares construction work plan packages and coordinates pre-construction meetings while ensuring that all prerequisites to start construction activities are identified and completed.Manage the effective utilization of technical expertise within the Project Management team.Coordinate Field Engineering activities with Construction Management team.Monitors and participates daily in field construction process. Provides layout checks and technical reviews of work against requirements.Assists in preparing monthly reporting for progress payments, schedule updates, and problem/issue tracking and resolution. Provides accurate and factual assessments of project performance.Coordinates with subcontractors on advance material acquisitions and pre-construction deliverables.Field verify to ensure construction is completed in accordance with plans, specifications and contract.Ensure as-builts updated as required by contract.Daily documentation, pictures of work performed, and conversations held.Maintains a safe, clean and productive environment through enforcing procedures.Maintains project integrity and reputation through compliance with high standards of workplace safety and construction best practices.Identifies and resolves changing site conditions or other impacts during planning of the work.Reviews project plans and develops a construction schedule in coordination with project-wide activities.Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction.REQUIREMENTS:Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.5 - 7 years of heavy civil construction experience.Working knowledge of surveying techniques, equipment, standards and procedures.Experience with Utility / Underground / Concrete Structures Construction preferredCommitment to safety and quality.
