Overview

LMI is seeking a Change & Communications Specialist to lead stakeholder engagement and sustained adoption of Agile ways of working and Atlassian tools in support of Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) modernization initiatives. The position blends organizational change management, communication strategy, readiness analysis, and community engagement to help diverse groups understand what is changing and why it matters.

The Change & Communications Specialist will build an integrated change strategy, map stakeholder needs, coordinate leadership briefings, develop clear campaign materials, and manage an ongoing change-champion network. Working with analysts, coaches, and platform teams, the specialist will connect readiness evidence and user feedback to targeted wave communications, accessible self-service resources, and adoption measurement.

This is not a newsletter-production-only role. The specialist must identify sources of resistance, equip leaders to sponsor change, listen to users, and adjust messages and support tactics as evidence emerges. The ideal candidate combines strategic judgment, crisp federal internal communications, and disciplined follow-through that makes adoption visible and sustainable.

LMI is a new breed of digital solutions provider dedicated to accelerating government impact with innovation and speed. Investing in technology and prototypes ahead of need, LMI brings commercial-grade platforms and mission-ready AI to federal agencies at commercial speed.

Leveraging our mission-ready technology and solutions, proven expertise in federal deployment, and strategic relationships, we enhance outcomes for the government, efficiently and effectively. With a focus on agility and collaboration, LMI serves the defense, space, healthcare, and energy sectors—helping agencies navigate complexity and outpace change. Headquartered in Tysons, Virginia, LMI is committed to delivering impactful results that strengthen missions and drive lasting value.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, orient, and sustain a network of change champions; coordinate forums, office hours, and community activities.

  • Design pulse surveys and feedback loops; interpret stakeholder sentiment and adoption indicators with analysts.

  • Partner with trainers, coaches, administrators, and program leadership to address resistance and refine communications.

  • Track communications reach, stakeholder engagement, key issues, and evidence of sustained adoption.

  • Develop stakeholder impact analyses, change objectives, sponsor actions, readiness measures, and communications tailored to distinct audiences and delivery waves.

  • Create practical communications toolkits, leader talking points, message calendars, FAQs, one-pagers, briefings, and accessible knowledge-hub updates.

  • Recruit and equip champions with clear responsibilities, reusable guidance, feedback channels, and recurring forums or office hours.

  • Measure reach and adoption through participation data, pulse surveys, sentiment themes, and observed behavior changes; report insights and recommended adjustments.

  • Coordinate change risks, sensitive messages, escalation paths, and approval cycles with leadership, trainers, coaches, and support teams.
