Job description

As Lead Captain & Flight Operations Manager, you will set the standard for safe, dependable, and cost-conscious corporate aviation from our Boise-area base. You’ll lead day-to-day flight operations, crew development, scheduling and logistics, maintenance coordination, and vendor relationships—all while piloting the CL604 and championing a culture built on safety, professionalism, and Bish’s RV values: Genuine, Fun, and Driven by Results.

  • Safety & Compliance: Make independent go/no‑go decisions; ensure every flight meets Part 91, company SOPs, aircraft limitations, and industry best practices; maintain SOPs, checklists, risk tools, ERP, and safety documentation; promote open cockpit communication and Crew Resource Management (CRM); apply SMS principles; report safety, maintenance, and operational risks to leadership.
  • Aircraft Readiness: Keep the Challenger 604 mission‑ready by coordinating inspections, scheduled maintenance, discrepancies, parts, vendor capacity, and timing; spot developing issues early; build contingency plans for weather, maintenance, crew availability, and other interruptions.
  • Trip Planning & Logistics: Partner with executives on travel needs; arrange fuel, ground handling, customs/permits, catering, rental vehicles, ground transportation, and contract‑crew support; anticipate problems, communicate changes promptly, and protect the passenger experience.
  • Cost Control & Budgeting: Run a cost‑aware operation—optimize fuel pricing/stops, handling and airport fees, repositioning, crew expenses, and maintenance impacts; obtain competitive bids; review invoices, challenge inappropriate charges, and negotiate pricing; track operating costs and trends; assist with the annual aviation budget; maintain purchasing and expense‑approval controls; seek safe savings through preferred pricing, fuel and maintenance programs, training efficiencies, and vendor consolidation.
  • People & Culture: Lead with humility and a team‑first mindset; set standards for professionalism, accountability, communication, aircraft care, and passenger service; verify pilot currency, qualifications, medicals, and training; mentor the Second‑in‑Command and build depth so operations aren’t single‑point dependent.
  • Passenger Experience: Deliver discreet, polished executive travel; safeguard confidentiality; keep the cabin clean, organized, and stocked; handle special requests with grace; represent Bish’s RV professionally with passengers, vendors, airports, and the aviation community.
  • Licenses & Time: Airline Transport Pilot Certificate (ATP, unrestricted); FAA First Class Medical; CL‑604 or CL‑600 series type rating; minimum 5,000 hours total time, 2,000 hours PIC, 1,000 hours turbine PIC, and 1,000 hours multi‑engine.
  • Experience: Significant Part 91 corporate aviation background; strong knowledge of FAA regulations, international operations, CRM, aircraft performance, and operational risk management; proven experience coordinating maintenance and working with providers.
  • Readiness: Ability to pass required background and drug testing; flexibility to work a variable schedule and adapt to changing travel needs.
Preferred
  • Leadership of a corporate flight department.
  • Managing maintenance events and reviewing work scopes.
  • Preparing or managing an aviation operating budget and reducing costs without compromising safety/reliability.
  • Negotiating with maintenance providers, FBOs, fuel vendors, and training providers.
  • Direct support of a CEO, ownership group, or senior executive team.
  • International flight‑operations experience.
  • Developing and mentoring other pilots.
  • An uncompromising safety culture with strong CRM and proactive risk management.
  • Consistent aircraft availability with fewer preventable cancellations and maintenance disruptions.
  • Early identification of maintenance needs and thoughtful contingency planning.
  • Financially responsible trip planning and clear visibility for leadership into aircraft status and costs.
  • Professional development of the Second‑in‑Command and a resilient, team‑based operation.
  • A seamless, discreet, and polished passenger experience every trip.
  • Well‑maintained Challenger 604 operated under FAA Part 91 with established maintenance and hangar partnerships.
  • Access to flight‑planning tools, SOPs, safety resources, and operational systems.
  • Ongoing initial and recurrent training.
  • Comprehensive benefits: medical, vision, dental, and supplemental coverage; discretionary 401(k) matching; company‑paid life insurance; employee discounts; gym membership reimbursement; opportunities for advancement; RV borrowing program.
  • A high‑performing, values‑driven company culture where safety and reliability come first.
