Job summary

Commonwealth Dentistry is seeking an experienced chairside dental assistant to support dentists across general and restorative care. You’ll guide patients through treatment costs, help keep the schedule full, and ensure impeccable infection control.

This hands-on role requires reliability, a strong attitude, and teamwork. The ideal candidate has 1–2+ years chairside experience, radiography credentials, CPR/BLS, and familiarity with Dentrix Ascend.

Qualifications

• 1–2+ years of chairside dental assisting experience.
• Experience presenting treatment plans and discussing financial arrangements with patients.
• Experience scheduling treatment chairside, confirming appointments, and managing a provider schedule.
• Working knowledge of dental insurance and procedure terminology.
• Radiography certification / state credentials as applicable.
• CPR/BLS certification or willingness to obtain.
• Dentrix Ascend experience is a plus.
• Able to perform the physical requirements of chairside work with/without accommodations.

Responsibilities

• Assist the dentist chairside across general and restorative procedures.
• Take radiographs and impressions, and chart accurately.
• Set up, break down, and turn over operatories on schedule.
• Sterilize instruments and follow OSHA infection control standards.
• Present treatment plans and explain recommendations clearly to patients.
• Discuss fees, insurance estimates, and payment options with patients.
• Schedule the next visit while the patient is in the chair.
• Confirm upcoming appointments by phone and text.
• Fill openings and cancellations; follow up on unscheduled treatment.
• Coordinate handoff with front desk to prevent gaps.
• Support teammates wherever the day needs you.
