Job summary

Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge seeks an outstanding senior scholar to fill the Dr. Shirley C. Tucker Chair in Lichenology at the rank of Associate or Full Professor.

The successful candidate will lead a vigorous, externally funded research program on the evolutionary biology of lichens, with emphasis on collections-based work, and provide campus leadership. Responsibilities include supervising graduate students, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, and building collaborations

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Biological Sciences, Botany, or related field with high-impact published research in lichenology.
• Advanced level of the following job competencies: research on evolutionary biology of lichens (collections-based); securing and maintaining extramural funding; publishing in highly ranked journals; undergraduate and graduate teaching; graduate student mentoring and supervision; scientific leadership on campus and beyond.

Responsibilities

• Lead a research team and maintain a vigorous, independent, externally funded research program on the evolutionary biology of lichens; supervise graduate student research; and publish in highly ranked journals.
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses and mentor graduate student research.
