The Jefferson Health System is seeking a new Chair, Department of Radiology at Jefferson Einstein Philadelphia Hospital (JEPH) and Jefferson Montgomery Hospital (JEMH).

Job Description

This position offers an outstanding opportunity for a distinguished physician to provide strategic leadership, direction, and coordination for the clinical, teaching, and research components of the Department of Radiology. The role involves collaborating with clinical and administrative leadership to meet and exceed hospital and practice goals. It is a Department Chair role that allows the physician to lead a successful department while continuing clinical practice and contributing to senior management.

The Chair will uphold the highest standards of medical care, promote growth, and ensure cooperation and communication among faculty and staff. Responsibilities include monitoring volume, clinical quality, operational improvements, residency programs, and financial performance. The individual is expected to be an active clinician and educator, serving as a visible leader and mentor.

The successful candidate must demonstrate a passion for the mission of providing exceptional clinical, educational, and research services, with skills in inter-professional team building. Business acumen and cultural sensitivity are essential for managing within a complex, matrixed organization, along with interpersonal skills for building relationships with external and internal stakeholders, including community clinicians, leaders, and donors.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
  • A minimum of 10 years of leadership experience in a large, community teaching hospital and/or academic medical center.
  • Regional or national reputation as an outstanding clinician/educator in radiology; a proven leadership track record in a competitive setting.
  • Eligibility for faculty appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor level.
  • Experience in clinical program development and professional education in a large teaching hospital.
  • Success in strategic planning and execution to meet goals.
  • Proven ability to lead imaging enterprises, identify opportunities, and advocate for improvements.
  • Exceptional communication skills for conveying complex information effectively.
  • Ability to manage multiple high-priority projects and delegate effectively.
  • Skill in identifying opportunities or threats and applying management principles for success.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for building effective relationships across disciplines.
  • Ability to foster a high-energy, results-oriented environment that values contributions and celebrates successes.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Experience working with public and private organizations.
  • Commitment to diversity and inclusion, with the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Preferred qualifications include experience overseeing large clinical services in a teaching environment, and strong communication skills for leading physicians and collaborating with hospital management.
