Job Description

The Jefferson Health System is seeking a new Chair, Department of Radiology at Jefferson Einstein Philadelphia Hospital (JEPH) and Jefferson Montgomery Hospital (JEMH). This position offers an outstanding opportunity for a distinguished physician to provide strategic leadership, direction, and coordination for the clinical, teaching, and research components of the Department of Radiology. The role involves working collaboratively with clinical and administrative leadership to meet and exceed hospital and practice goals. As Department Chair, the successful candidate will manage a thriving department while continuing clinical practice and contributing as a senior management team member.

The Chair will ensure the highest quality of medical care, promote departmental growth, and foster cooperation and communication among faculty and staff. Responsibilities include monitoring volume, clinical quality, operational improvements, residency programs, and financial performance. The candidate is expected to be an active clinician and educator, serving as a visible leader and mentor.

The ideal candidate must share a passion for the institution’s mission of excellence in clinical, educational, and research services, including inter-professional team building. They should possess business acumen and cultural sensitivity to navigate a complex, matrixed organization, and have strong interpersonal skills to build successful relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including community clinicians, leaders, and donors.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
  • A minimum of 10 years of demonstrated leadership experience in a large, community teaching hospital and/or academic medical center.
  • Regional or national reputation as an outstanding clinician/educator in radiology; a proven leadership track record in a competitive setting.
  • Qualifications supporting a faculty appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor level.
  • Experience in clinical program development and professional education in a large teaching hospital.
  • Success in strategic planning and achieving goals.
  • Ability to lead imaging enterprises, identify improvement opportunities, and advocate for changes.
  • Exceptional communication skills for conveying complex information effectively.
  • Capability to manage multiple high-priority projects and delegate effectively.
  • Skill in identifying opportunities or threats and applying management principles.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build effective professional relationships.
  • Ability to foster a high-energy, results-oriented work environment.
  • Ability to share success and motivate colleagues and staff.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Experience working with public and private organizations.
  • Commitment to diversity and inclusion, and ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in organizing and overseeing large clinical services in a teaching environment. Strong communication skills and a proven record of leadership and collaboration with hospital management and multidisciplinary teams are valued.
