Job summary

Oliver James Group is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to lead two P&C insurance operating units in Virginia. The role partners with the President and senior leadership to shape financial strategy and growth.

The position includes overseeing accounting, reporting, FP&A and budgeting, with a focus on GAAP/statutory compliance, controls and process improvements. A team of three will report directly to the CFO, with strong growth potential.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressively responsible financial leadership experience.
• P&C insurance experience essential, including STAT and GAAP reporting.
• Strong accounting, financial reporting, FP&A and expense management capabilities.
• Familiarity with direct and agency billing; proficient with financial systems.
• Commercially minded leader able to influence senior stakeholders and drive improvements.

Responsibilities

• Oversee CFO responsibilities across two insurance operating units, including accounting, financial reporting, FP&A and budgeting.
• Partner with the President and corporate finance leadership to provide strategic insight.
• Lead monthly financial reporting, general ledger, expense management and budgeting/forecasting.
• Oversee GAAP and statutory reporting, financial controls and regulatory compliance.
• Identify process improvements, drive automation and enhance finance function efficiency.
• Lead and mentor a finance team of three direct reports.
