Job summary

The Center for Large Landscape Conservation seeks a Chief Finance Officer (CFO) based in Bozeman or Missoula, MT. The CFO will lead financial, operational, and HR functions, reporting directly to the CEO.

Ideal candidates are seasoned financial leaders with extensive knowledge of nonprofit management, able to oversee diverse funding sources and ensure compliance with financial regulations. Responsibilities include strategic financial planning, budget drafting, and managing a team of two.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive fiscal and accounting management experience in the nonprofit sector.
• Proven experience as a CFO, Finance Director, or similar role.
• Expertise in nonprofit GAAP accounting and financial reporting.
• Ability to communicate complex financial concepts clearly.
• Strong change management skills and collaborative management style.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic financial planning, cash flow management, and annual budgeting.
• Maintain financial controls and produce financial reports.
• Oversee grant and contract budgets and compliance.
• Manage payroll, bank accounts, and organizational risk.
• Supervise a dedicated operations team to support HR and benefits.
