Job summary

Center for Rural Affairs in Lyons, NE seeks a Chief Financial Officer to lead financial strategy, manage fiscal health, and oversee all finance and accounting operations. The CFO will collaborate with leadership, the board, and external partners to ensure financial stability for the lending portfolio and mission-driven programs.

The role requires extensive nonprofit finance experience, GAAP knowledge, and a track record in budgeting, reporting, and risk management.

Qualifications

• Ten+ years of experience in progressively responsible financial leadership in nonprofit organizations.
• Extensive knowledge of nonprofit GAAP, budgeting, and grant administration.
• Experience in loan underwriting and loan administration or similar financial risk assessment.
• Strong networking, presentation, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to plan, prioritize, and work with diverse groups across an organization.
• Willingness to travel to Nebraska or regional sites as needed.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement financial strategy and budgeting for the Center.
• Lead financial reporting, forecasting, and risk management.
• Oversee audits, compliance, and financial controls.
• Manage investments, cash, and loan portfolio activities.
• Support the Executive Director, board, and external partners with financial insights.
