Job summary

VISPO is seeking a collaborative, hands-on Chief Financial Officer to lead financial strategy and day-to-day accounting within a community-focused nonprofit infrastructure project in Vermont.

The CFO will partner with the Board and C-suite, shaping budgeting, forecasting, and capital planning while ensuring compliance and transparent reporting. This role blends strategic leadership with hands-on execution in a small startup-like environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business with Accounting concentration; 10+ years of financial leadership.
• Experience in telecommunications or similar complex environments.
• Experience building systems, processes and teams in growing organizations.
• Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution.

Responsibilities

• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, accounting oversight and financial reporting.
• Coordinate with partners, vendors, and staff for operations and filings.
• Monitor cash flow, reserves, debt, and funding opportunities.
• Improve financial processes, controls, and procedures.
• Support month-end, year-end, audits, and compliance.
• Present financial reports to the Board and C-suite.
