Job summary

Cherry Bekaert in the United States is seeking a CFO Advisory Senior Manager focused on state and local government, higher education, and not-for-profit engagements. You will manage and deliver accounting and financial reporting solutions, including ACFR preparation, new standards implementation, and process improvement, while ensuring client satisfaction.

This role combines project leadership, business development, and mentoring of staff, in a hybrid work environment with travel up to 30%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (preferred), Finance or other business discipline.
• Active or in-process CPA and/or Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM).
• Minimum 7 years of public accounting experience performing external audit or consulting.
• Strong knowledge of GASB standards and government accounting.
• Experience auditing or assisting with financial close for governmental entities.
• Experience with internal controls including documentation and testing of controls.
• Excellent project management, analytical, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a hybrid environment and travel up to 30%.

Responsibilities

• Plan, manage, and perform engagements including ACFR preparation and implementation of new accounting standards.
• Assess client accounting challenges and develop tailored advisory solutions.
• Review ACFR for accuracy against benchmarks like GFOA.
• Provide status updates to client leadership on tasks and findings.
• Develop outside relationships to foster business development.
• Lead and supervise team members and staff development.
