POSITION SUMMARY

Serves as the senior financial leader and chief accounting officer for the organization. Reporting directly to the President/Ownership, this hands-on role bridges strategic financial leadership with rigorous daily accounting execution. The individual will oversee long-term capital strategy, bank relationships, and financial forecasting while indirectly supervising A/P, A/R, inventory accounting, monthly close procedures, and financial reporting.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Executive Strategy & Ownership Advisory:
• Serve as a core member of the executive leadership team, shaping overall corporate strategy, expansion models, and business transformations.
• Advise ownership on capital allocation, dividend/distribution strategies, and long-term liquidity events or succession plans.
• Strategic Planning, Ownership Advisory & Capital Management:
• Partner with ownership on multi-year growth strategies, tax planning, profit distribution models, and long-term capital allocation.
• Maintain and enhance the dynamic cash flow model to optimize liquidity, working capital, and debt structures.
• Lead external relationships, serving as the primary liaison for banking partners, external auditors, lending institution audits, inventory appraisals, and insurance companies.
• Financial Reporting & Operational Cost Analysis:
• Direct all monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, managing the complete month-end close process.
• Track, analyze, and report on monthly sales, margins, Cost of Goods Sold (COGS), and operating expenses.
• Investigate, research, and resolve monthly and annual inventory variances.
• Prepare and deliver financial reporting packages for executive leadership & banking partners.
• Asset based lending experience a plus.
• Accounting Operations, Budgeting & Compliance:
• Supervise and direct the daily operations of Accounts Payable (A/P), Accounts Receivable (A/R), and general accounting staff.
• Reconcile and report monthly AR; manage and process royalties, sales commissions, and vendor chargebacks.
• Lead the annual budgeting process, maintain the monthly budget, and perform periodic budget-to-actual variance reviews.
• Design, implement, and maintain internal controls, compliance policies, and local, state, and federal tax compliance.
• Team Leadership & Process Modernization:
• Set standards for department work quality, driving a service-oriented approach across the organization.
• Evaluate and modernize accounting systems, workflows, and ERP capabilities to automate processes and boost efficiency.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Experience: 10+ years of progressive financial and accounting leadership, combining strategic oversight with hands-on controller-level execution (prior experience in a family-owned or privately held business strongly preferred).
• Education & Certifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; active CPA or MBA strongly preferred.
• Interpersonal Fit: Strong diplomatic and communication skills to effectively navigate family business dynamics, mentor staff, and communicate clearly with non-financial stakeholders.
