Job description

Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Help Shape the Financial Future of a Rapidly Growing International Organization!

Location: Miami Area (Will be mostly remote, with some occasional visits to the office)

Salary: $170,000–$190,000

Employment: Full-Time

This Isn't Your Typical Nonprofit CFO Opportunity!

What if your next CFO role gave you the opportunity to do more than manage the numbers? What if you could build the financial infrastructure, influence organizational strategy, and help shape the future of a rapidly expanding international organization?

We're partnering with a dynamic, mission-driven nonprofit experiencing significant growth in funding, programs, and global reach. With approximately 50 team members operating across the U.S., Latin America, and Europe, this organization is entering an exciting new chapter—and needs a financial leader who can help take it to the next level.

We're seeking a strategic, entrepreneurial, and hands-on CFO who knows how to think like a business leader while navigating the complexities of nonprofit finance.

This is a rare opportunity to work directly with the CEO and Board, modernize financial operations, build scalable infrastructure, and make a lasting impact on an organization with ambitious growth plans.

We're not looking for someone to simply maintain the status quo. We're looking for someone who can help build what's next.

What You'll Have the Opportunity to Do

  • Drive Financial Strategy: Partner directly with the CEO and Board to influence financial decisions, guide growth, identify efficiencies, and strengthen long-term sustainability.

  • Lead a Financial Transformation: Modernize accounting operations, optimize financial technology (including Sage and Ramp), and establish scalable systems and processes.

  • Own the Financial Picture: Oversee budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, financial reporting, accounting operations, and internal controls.

  • Navigate International Complexity: Manage financial operations across multiple countries, particularly Latin America, working with international accounting, payroll, tax, and third-party providers.

  • Lead Nonprofit Financial Stewardship: Oversee restricted and unrestricted grants, multi-year funding, nonprofit GAAP compliance, annual audits, and Form 990 reporting.

  • Build and Develop Your Team: Lead internal finance personnel and external accounting partners, assess future staffing needs, and strengthen the overall finance function.

  • Be a True Strategic Partner: Deliver actionable financial insights to executive leadership and the Board, helping the organization make smarter decisions as it continues to expand.

What We’re Looking For

  • 10+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including 5+ years in senior nonprofit financial leadership.

  • 3+ years of people management experience.

  • CPA and/or MBA required.

  • Strong knowledge of nonprofit GAAP, restricted grants, audits, Form 990, and financial compliance.

  • International financial experience, preferably involving Latin America and cross-border operations.

  • Bilingual English/Spanish required.

  • Demonstrated success with budgeting, forecasting, cash management, financial controls, and strategic planning.

  • Experience implementing or optimizing financial systems and improving accounting processes.

  • Strong executive presence and the ability to communicate financial insights effectively to leadership and Boards.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Sage, Ramp, and Inovva is highly desirable.

Who Will Thrive Here?

You’ll be successful if you’re someone who:

  • Thinks strategically but isn’t afraid to roll up your sleeves.

  • Enjoys building, improving, and scaling financial operations rather than simply maintaining existing processes.

  • Brings a business-minded, entrepreneurial approach to nonprofit financial management.

  • Can navigate international financial complexity and adapt quickly to changing priorities.

  • Is comfortable taking ownership, making recommendations, and driving improvements without extensive direction.

  • Is energized by growth, innovation, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact.

Experience in nonprofit media is not required. We’re open to proven nonprofit CFOs as well as accomplished Controllers and VPs of Finance ready to take the next step in their careers.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

  • High Visibility & Influence: Work directly with the CEO, Board, and senior leadership.

  • Real Opportunity to Build: Help design the financial infrastructure of an organization entering its next phase of growth.

  • International Scope: Gain exposure to complex financial operations spanning multiple countries.

  • Entrepreneurial Environment: Join an organization that values innovative thinking, initiative, and creative problem-solving.

  • Meaningful Impact: Apply your financial leadership skills to support a mission-driven organization with an expanding international presence.

  • Remote Flexibility: Work primarily from home, with a preference for South Florida candidates available for occasional in-person meetings and essential banking activities. Exceptional U.S.-based remote candidates will also be considered.

Compensation & Benefits

Base Salary: $170,000–$190,000

Health and medical benefits, paid vacation, and a predominantly remote work arrangement.
