Job summary

Our client, a Northeastern South Dakota commodity trading organization, is seeking a CFO to oversee all financial functions and ensure solid accounting practices for grain marketing and feed stocks.

You will work with the executive team, board of directors, banks, auditors and regulators to drive strategic financial decisions, tax planning and enterprise risk management.

Strong accounting expertise in commodities trading and experience with grain buying/selling and feed stocks is required.

Qualifications

• Experience in senior financial leadership, preferably CFO, in commodity trading or grain markets.
• Strong accounting knowledge and risk management for grain marketing operations.
• Ability to work with executive leadership, board, banks, auditors and regulators.

• Manage risk related to grain marketing operations.
• Develop relationships with the executive team, board, banks, auditors, regulators and other consultants.
• In concert with tax consultants develop tax planning strategies beneficial for the operation and its shareholders.
• Manage enterprise risk including insurance, credit and collections policies and other financial matters.
• Develop and provide financial plans and input to the executive team and the board to enable strategic decisions.
• Oversee and manage finance and purchasing functions of the company.

They seek a CFO with in-depth experience in the accounting practices and processes associated with commodities trading, grain buying and selling and the sale of feed stocks.

THE ROLE YOU WILL PLAY:

• Responsible for managing and ongoing analysis of all financial functions of the organization
• Working understanding of risk management associated with grain marketing operations.
• Develop strong working relationships with the executive team, board of directors, banks, auditors, finance related entities, regulators and other outside consultants
• In concert with tax consultants develop tax planning strategist that are beneficial for the operation and its shareholders.
• Manage the enterprise risk management which includes: insurance, credit and collections policies and other financial matters with a focus on loss prevention.
• Develop and provide financial plans and input to the executive team and the board of directors to allow them to make strategic decision-making opportunities.
• Oversee and manage the finance and purchasing functions of the company.
