Job summary

Apetan Consulting LLC in Illinois is seeking an experienced CFD analyst to lead fluid flow and thermal analyses for heavy equipment applications. The ideal candidate has 5–7 years of CFD experience and a strong hands-on background with ANSYS Fluent or OpenFOAM. You will develop and validate CFD models, interpret results, and work with cross-functional teams to optimize designs, supporting testing, validation, and performance improvements across projects.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of experience in CFD analysis
• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
• Hands-on experience with ANSYS Fluent and/or OpenFOAM
• Strong expertise in fluid flow, heat transfer, thermodynamics, aero-thermal analysis, and CFD simulations
• Experience developing, validating, and verifying CFD models using experimental and theoretical data
• Ability to analyze simulation results and provide design optimization recommendations
• Experience supporting construction equipment, heavy equipment, or earthmoving equipment is preferred
• Strong communication and stakeholder coordination skills

Responsibilities

• Perform CFD analysis related to fluid flow, heat transfer, aerodynamics, acoustics, and thermal management
• Develop and execute simulation models using Fluent/OpenFOAM
• Validate simulation results and provide engineering recommendations
• Support product design, testing, and performance improvement activities
• Participate in project review meetings and collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and analysis documentation
