Job summary

Siemens Mobility seeks a Certified Welding Inspector – Rolling Stock at our Lexington, NC facility. This role involves inspecting welded components in the Carshell area, applying AWS/VTI standards, and using NDT methods to ensure weld quality.

Daily tasks include documenting findings and supporting continuous quality improvements. Candidates must hold AWS CWI Associate or VT Level II and be able to operate inspection systems and databases.

Qualifications

  • AWS CWI Associate or VT Level II certification is required.
  • Ability to perform visual, dimensional and mechanical inspections on welded components.
  • Experience with non-destructive testing techniques as part of inspection workflow.

Position Overview:

Performs a wide variety of inspections in the Carshell welding area to ensure train coaches are built to specifications. Follows general inspection guidelines to conduct routine visual CWI, dimensional, and mechanical inspections on a wide variety of welded and machined components and assemblies. Utilizes one or more non-destructive testing techniques to verify welding meets specifications.

What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Occasionally may be required to use experience and judgement to ascertain outcome/results meaning.
  • Able to provide routine disposition for common defects.
  • May have limited interaction with suppliers and quality management.

To thrive in this role, you have:

  • Obtain and hold AWS Certified Visual Weld Inspector Associate - or - VT Level II certification and certification in one or more non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques.
  • Ability to retrieve information from computer systems/databases and input data into electronic inspection systems.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move 40 pounds or more. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

The pay range for this position is $26.00 – $42.32 per hour. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications and premium geographic location.
