Job Description
General Responsibilities:
- Perform field welding inspection testing and structural steel inspections.
- Communicate with project stakeholders regarding site, project requirements, testing, observation, and inspection results.
- Transport material samples with documentation to the laboratory for testing and analysis.
- Prepare and submit data and observations through reports for daily transmittal to the Project Manager.
- Maintain and clean equipment, vehicles, and work areas.
- Assist with scheduling and dispatch of Technicians to project sites.
- Adhere to strict safety standards.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
- Perform testing, observation, and inspection as directed, following training and procedures.
- Read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
- Conduct tests on materials to verify compliance with contract specifications.
- Document findings clearly and accurately.
- Perform basic data analysis to verify accuracy before reporting.
- Communicate findings to Project Managers and team members.
- Possess proficiency in multiple areas of field and laboratory testing.
- Train lower-level technicians.
- Supervise activities of other technicians when required.
- Plan, schedule, and dispatch technicians based on skills, certifications, and project needs.
- Coordinate pre-dispatch activities with management.
- Interact with clients and site personnel as directed.
- Assist in developing scopes for testing and inspection services.
- Maintain equipment calibration and operation.
- Perform advanced fieldwork and support project management.
- Follow safety protocols, perform pre-task planning, and report safety issues.
- Maintain quality standards across projects.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector certification.
- Preferably hold nondestructive testing certifications.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience or equivalent training and related experience.
- Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
Steel
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or
- ASNT Level II certification in Structural Steel and/or nondestructive testing services.
Facilities
- Relevant certification for specific services or project requirements (e.g., RRO).
All
- Completion of related safety certifications.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
Preferred Certifications:
- ICC certification in multiple categories such as Reinforced Concrete, Structural Masonry, or Structural Steel.
- ASNT Level III certification in areas like VT, MT, PT, RT, or UT.
