The Kelly Group is seeking a Certified Welding Inspector for its Lafayette, Indiana, facility. Candidates should have a minimum of 3 years of experience in structural steel and/or sheet metal fabrication. This role is responsible for ensuring welding quality, code compliance and adherence to customer and regulatory requirements throughout the fabrication process.

This position requires the ability to perform these essential duties:

  • Have and maintain AWS CWI certification and serve as the company's welding quality authority
  • Understand and maintain strong knowledge of the AWS D1.1 and D1.3 codes
  • Inspect welds for compliance with applicable codes and standards, including customer specifications
  • Review and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, fabrication drawings and specifications
  • Develop, review and maintain documentation, specifications, records and qualifications
  • Coordinate and witness welder qualification and re-qualification testing
  • Perform visual inspections and coordinate non-destructive testing (UT, MT, PT) as required
  • Work closely with fabrication and quality teams to resolve weld‑related issues
  • Document inspection results and maintain quality records
  • Support internal and customer audits related to welding and quality systems
  • Show a solid understanding of welding processes (GMAW, FCAW, SMAW, GTAW) and guide fabrication team on requirements and best practices

Other preferred qualifications sought include:

  • Experience in a fabrication shop environment (structural steel preferred)
  • Familiarity with customer‑specific quality requirements and audits
  • Knowledge of AISC requirements and fabrication standards
  • Experience working with quality management systems (ISO or equivalent)

Occasional overtime may be required for this position.
