Job summary

Albers Aerospace seeks a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to ensure welding activities meet codes, standards, and quality requirements. Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Perform visual inspection of welds and welding-related activities before, during, and after fabrication.
  • Verify compliance with codes, standards, specifications, and customer requirements.
  • Inspect base materials, joint prep, fit-up, welding processes, and welds.
  • Identify and report weld nonconformances; verify corrective actions.
  • Maintain and review WPS, PQR, and WPQ records.
  • Maintain inspection reports and material traceability documentation.
  • Support internal, customer, and regulatory audits and inspections.
  • Serve as technical resource to welding, production, engineering, and quality teams.
  • Train and mentor welders on procedures and quality requirements.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement.

Job Summary

The Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) ensures welding activities meet codes, standards, and quality requirements through inspections, audits, and documentation. This role partners with production, engineering, and quality teams to support compliance, continuous improvement, and defect prevention.

Essential Job Functions
  • Perform visual inspection of welds and welding‑related activities before, during, and after fabrication
  • Verify compliance with applicable codes, standards, specifications, and customer requirements.
  • Inspect base materials, joint preparation, fit‑up, welding processes, and completed welds.
  • Identify, document, and report weld nonconformances; verify corrective actions.
  • Review, verify, and maintain Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welder Performance Qualifications (WPQ).
  • Maintain inspection reports, weld records, and material traceability documentation.
  • Support internal, customer, and regulatory audits and inspections.
  • Serve as a technical resource to welding, production, engineering, and quality personnel.
  • Train and mentor welders on approved procedures, best practices, and quality requirements to support skill development.
  • Participate in root cause analysis, corrective action, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Promote compliance with safety requirements and welding best practices in accordance with applicable codes.
Schedule

The standard schedule is four weekday, 10‑hour shifts, with overtime as needed based on workload.

Required Qualifications
  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in welding inspection, fabrication, or quality assurance.
  • Strong knowledge of common welding processes
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and welding symbols.
  • Proficiency with inspection tools and measuring equipment.
  • Strong documentation, reporting, and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Safety‑focused mindset with a strong commitment to quality and compliance.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Welding Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Additional certifications such as API, ASNT NDT Level II, or CSWIP.
  • Experience welding aluminum a plus
  • Experience working in regulated, audited, or customer‑driven environments.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and technical problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team‑based environment.
  • Basic computer skills, including accurate data entry and report completion.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new processes, tools, and technologies.

  • Visual Acuity: Required for close inspection, measurement, and evaluation of welds and materials
  • Speaking and Hearing: Required for communication in a manufacturing environment
Working Conditions

Work performed primarily in a manufacturing environment with exposure to loud noise levels.
