Job summary

Gulf Crane Services is seeking a skilled welder in Louisiana to weld components per established procedures and to meet cycle time and quality standards. You will read fabrication drawings, select materials, and operate arc welding gear with careful safety practices.

You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance on welding equipment, work in flat, vertical, or overhead positions, and ensure workmanship meets exacting size and location requirements. High School or GED required.

Qualifications

• Weld according to established procedures with cycle time and acceptability in mind.
• Must interpret fabrication drawings to select materials and welding methods.
• Ability to safely use hand tools, torch, and arc welding equipment.
• Operate and maintain welding equipment and perform basic repairs as needed.

Responsibilities

• Weld in accordance with established welding procedures and ensure welds meet cycle time and acceptability requirements.
• Knowledgeable of machines, tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
• Perform welding of components in accordance with the applicable Work Order.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of welding equipment.
• Responsible for the safety of personnel and safe operation of welding equipment.
• Notify supervisory personnel if a nonconforming condition is disclosed.
• Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions; heat, form, and dress metal parts using hand tools, torch, or arc welding equipment.
• Determine required equipment and welding method applying metallurgy, geometry, and welding technique knowledge.
• Remove rough spots from work piece using portable grinder, hand file, or scraper.
• Interpret fabrication drawings sufficiently to utilize proper welding materials.
• Verify workmanship relative to size, location, and quality.
• Verify materials, consumables, and cleanliness of components assigned in their area.
