Job summary

Leggett & Platt Precision Hydraulic Cylinders is seeking a Certified Weld Engineer to lead welding engineering, automation development, and weld quality initiatives across our manufacturing processes.

This role advances PHC’s welding technology, supports innovation, and ensures the structural integrity of every cylinder we produce. AWS certification is required, and experience with robotic welding is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or related field.
• AWS certification required (CWI, CWE, or SCWI preferred).
• 3–5+ years of welding engineering experience in manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Develop, qualify, and maintain WPS, PQR, and WPQ documentation per AWS standards.
• Support welding processes including GMAW, GTAW, FCAW, SAW and automated welding.
• Lead implementation and validation of robotic welding systems and fixtures.
• Conduct weld design reviews focusing on joint design, heat input, metallurgy, and distortion control.
• Ensure compliance with AWS codes and PHC quality standards.
• Train welders and support qualification testing.
