Job summary

The City of West Monroe is seeking a Certified Water Operator to operate and maintain municipal water production facilities. Under supervision, you will perform duties independently to ensure safe and reliable operation of the water system.

You will collect chlorine samples, inspect and maintain treatment equipment, and prepare required reports. This role requires a high school diploma or GED, a Louisiana driver’s license, and water operator certification.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic water production and treatment practices.
• Ability to operate and monitor water treatment equipment safely.
• Ability to collect samples and maintain records per regulatory requirements.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Operate, inspect, maintain, and troubleshoot wells, treatment facilities, and sampling stations.
• Collect routine chlorine samples at designated locations.
• Change chlorine cylinders at well locations as needed.
• Monitor equipment and report maintenance or operational concerns.
• Complete daily operating reports and documentation for the Louisiana Department of Health.
• Maintain accurate sampling, treatment, maintenance, and operational records.
• Safely operate tools and equipment required to perform duties.
• Respond to water system emergencies and assist with repairs.
