Job summary

The City of Fort Lupton seeks a dynamic Certified Water Fitness Instructor to lead engaging water-based classes at our community recreation center. Classes are on Mondays and Wednesdays 6:30–7:30pm with potential for more sessions.

Responsibilities include planning safe aqua workouts, demonstrating techniques, and supporting participants of varied fitness levels while promoting health and wellness in a welcoming environment.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. A degree or coursework in exercise science, kinesiology, physical education, or a related field is preferred.
• Training and Experience: Minimum of one year of experience leading group fitness classes, preferably in an aquatic environment.
• Certification Requirements: Current certification as a Water Fitness Instructor from a nationally recognized organization (e.g., AEA Aquatic Fitness Professional Certification)
• Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required
• Additional certifications in group fitness, personal training, or specialized aqua programs (e.g., Aqua Zumba, Ai Chi) are highly desirable.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to demonstrate and perform water-based exercises, stand for extended periods, and work in a pool environment.
• Other Skills: Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, and adapt to varying class schedules. Strong organizational skills and a passion for promoting health and wellness.

• Monitor participants during classes to ensure safety, correct form, and adherence to pool regulations.
• Develop creative and engaging class routines to maintain participant interest and motivation.
• Provide excellent customer service by addressing participant questions, offering encouragement, and fostering a welcoming class environment.
• Maintain a clean and safe aquatic environment, including inspecting equipment and reporting any maintenance needs.
• Promote water fitness programs through community engagement and collaboration with facility staff.
• Maintain accurate attendance records and report any incidents or concerns to management.
• Stay updated on industry trends and incorporate new water fitness techniques to enhance class offerings.

• Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required
• Additional certifications in group fitness, personal training, or specialized aqua programs (e.g., Aqua Zumba, Ai Chi) are highly desirable.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to demonstrate and perform water-based exercises, stand for extended periods, and work in a pool environment. Must be comfortable in water and able to assist participants as needed.
• Other Skills: Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, and adapt to varying class schedules. Strong organizational skills and a passion for promoting health and wellness.
