Job summary

Willow Ridge Animal Hospital (Loves Park, IL) seeks an experienced full-time or part-time Certified Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant for a two-doctor small animal practice focusing on felines. Candidate should have veterinary field experience with phlebotomy and anesthesia monitoring; Cornerstone and IDEXX experience is a plus.

The role includes surgical assistance, in-house lab work, and strong client communication.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; 1–2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Registered Veterinary Technician in Wisconsin is preferred but not required.
• Must multi-task and develop positive relationships with clients and co-workers.

Responsibilities

• Check patient medical records for histories and enter treatments in the computer.
• Restrain animals for Veterinarian as required.
• Draw blood and perform testing procedures with minimal discomfort to patients.
• Perform in-house lab work: CBCs, blood profiles, urinalysis, cultures, etc.
• Assist Veterinarian with in-patient care and anesthesia induction/monitoring.
• Dispense medications and communicate with owners about meds and care.
• Enter patient information and results in the computer systems.
