Job summary

North Avenue Animal Hospital in Chicago seeks a Credentialed Veterinary Technician to support veterinarians in anesthesia, surgery, dentistry, lab testing, patient nursing, and client education. The role focuses on high-quality care in a AAHA-accredited facility.

You will assist with outpatient exams, sample collection, lab work, radiographs, and medication administration while maintaining client communication and compassionate care. Competitive pay and benefits offered.

Qualifications

• State license to practice as a certified/licensed veterinary technician.
• Ability to lift/push medical equipment and assist in exams.
• Familiarity with basic computer skills and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians in medicine and surgery and other tasks as needed.
• Take histories, vital signs, and weights during outpatient exams and educate clients.
• Prepare patients for surgery and monitor vital signs during procedures.
• Collect blood and other samples; perform in-hospital labs and send to external labs.
• Take, develop, and maintain radiographs following safety procedures.
• Handle animals and restrain during exams.
• Administer medications, anesthesia, vaccines, and treatments as directed.
• Maintain clean exam rooms, stock supplies, and help keep public areas tidy.
• Demonstrate warmth, courtesy, and professionalism with clients and patients.
• Communicate with veterinarians and team members about patient plans and concerns.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
