Job summary

The Oregon Humane Society is seeking a Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) to join our Medical team at the Salem campus. You will assist veterinarians with examinations, restrain animals, administer treatments, and help prepare for surgery in a high-volume, high-quality clinic.

We value teamwork, safety, and compassionate care for all animals. The role requires possession of a valid Oregon CVT license and the ability to work weekends/weeks as needed; staff benefits include

Qualifications

• Hold and maintain Certified Veterinarian Technician license as required by the State of Oregon
• Hold and maintain a Certified Euthanasia Technician license
• Able to participate as a member of a high performing team in a collaborative and positive manner
• Able to maintain a professional, calm demeanor and exercise sound judgment during times of high workload and interactions with the public

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians with physical examinations and help determine illness or injury
• Handle animals of varying species, size, and temperament in a caring, safe manner
• Ensure infectious diseases are handled safely according to protocols
• Perform patient care including taking and recording TPR, dressing wounds, applying splints
• Administer medications, fluids and blood products as prescribed by the veterinarian
• Enter medical and treatment notes in a timely and accurate manner
