BluePearl Pet Hospital in Oak Creek, WI is seeking an experienced Relief Veterinary Technician to join our ER/ICU team. The role focuses on anesthesia, triage, digital radiography, and critical care in a fast-paced emergency setting.

You will mentor colleagues, support CPR readiness, and collaborate with veterinarians to deliver compassionate care for pets. The position offers relief shifts and pay based on licensure and experience.

Qualifications

• Experienced veterinary technician in an ER/ICU setting.
• Proficient in anesthesia induction, monitoring and recovery.
• Skilled in digital radiography, CT, endoscopy and ultrasonography.
• Familiar with RECOVER CPR guidelines; BLS/ALS training is provided.
• Strong mentoring abilities and client communication.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia in patients and manage monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases, obtain vitals (temp, HR, RR, BP).
• Perform digital radiography with proper patient positioning.
• Assist with or perform CT, endoscopy, and ultrasonography.
• Interpret vital signs and alert veterinarians to changes.
• Identify patients at risk and initiate CPR.
• Calculate medical math and administer medications via appropriate routes.
• Place IV catheters and perform phlebotomy.
• Place feeding tubes, drains, PICC lines, and central lines.
• Mentor and train team members; address client concerns with empathy.

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Oak Creek, WI is hiring an experienced Relief Veterinary Technician to join our team in our Emergency department.

Emergency Veterinary Technician with our ER/ICU Department.

Pay Range CVT:

$22.00 - $40.00/hour

• This pay band is dependent on local veterinary licensing, experience, and advancement through our competency assessment tool.

As An Emergency Veterinary Technician, You Will

• Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital, including obtaining vitals such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique, including proper positioning of patients.
• Assist with or perform CT, endoscopy, and ultrasonography.
• Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert veterinarians to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes, drains, PICC line catheters, and central line catheters.
• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
• Remain current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R (basic and advanced) CPR guidelines. ALS and BLS certification is provided at no cost to you.
• Mentor and train fellow team members and engage with clients with empathy and professionalism.
