Job description

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Port Washington, WI is hiring an experienced Relief Veterinary Technician to join our Emergency and Critical Care department.

Position: Emergency Veterinary Technician in our ER/ICU Department.

Shifts: Relief

Pay Range CVTI-II: $22.00 - $35.00/hour

*This pay band depends on local veterinary licensing, experience, and advancement through our competency assessment tool.

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia in patients using anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases upon arrival, including obtaining vital signs such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography with proper technique and patient positioning.
• Assist with or perform CT, endoscopy, and ultrasonography procedures.
• Understand normal ranges of patient vital signs, including heart rate, respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs, alerting veterinarians to any changes.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Calculate medical math, including constant rate infusions, and administer medications appropriately.
• Perform phlebotomy and place intravenous catheters in peripheral vessels proficiently.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes, drains, PICC lines, and central line catheters.
• Mentor and train other team members.
• Address client concerns with patience and empathy.
• Stay current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R CPR guidelines; ALS and BLS certifications are provided at no cost.
