Job description

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Port Washington, WI is hiring an experienced Relief Veterinary Technician to join our Emergency and Critical Care department.

Position: Emergency Veterinary Technician with our ER/ICU Department.

Shifts: Relief

Pay Range CVTI-II: $22.00 - $35.00/hour

*This pay band depends on local veterinary licensing, experience, and advancement through our competency assessment tool.

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, You Will:

1. Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia in patients using anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
2. Triage emergency cases upon arrival, including obtaining vitals such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure.
3. Perform digital radiography with proper technique and patient positioning.
4. Assist with or perform CT, endoscopy, and ultrasonography.
5. Understand normal ranges of patient vital signs and monitor for changes.
6. Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs, alerting veterinarians to issues.
7. Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
8. Calculate medical math, including infusions, and administer medications appropriately.
9. Perform phlebotomy and place intravenous catheters in peripheral vessels.
10. Place and maintain feeding tubes, drains, and line catheters.
11. Mentor and train co-workers with passion.
12. Address client concerns with patience and empathy.
13. Remain current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R CPR guidelines; ALS and BLS certification are provided at no cost.
14. Engage with clients professionally and empathetically.
