Job summary

Heartland Veterinary Partners LLC in Libertyville, IL, is seeking a Credentialed Veterinary Technician to join our AAHA-accredited hospital. You will support veterinarians in anesthesia, surgery, dentistry, laboratory work, patient nursing and client education in a fast-paced, fear-free environment.

We value teamwork, compassionate care and clear communication. Hours are Mon–Fri with varied shifts and holidays off; pay ranges from $22 to $27 per hour with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• State license to work as a certified/licensed/registered veterinary technician.
• Ability to lift patients and equipment up to 25 pounds (and more with assistance).
• OSHA safety techniques including proper PPE.
• Basic computer skills (MS Office familiarity).
• Basic math and dosage calculation abilities.
• Strong communication skills to ensure patient safety.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians in veterinary medicine, surgery and related tasks.
• Take histories, vital signs and weights, and educate clients during outpatient exams.
• Prepare patients for surgery and monitor vital signs during procedures.
• Collect samples and perform in-hospital lab testing; prepare specimens for outside labs.
• Take, develop and maintain radiographs with proper safety procedures.
• Handle and restrain animals during exams as needed.
• Administer medications, anesthesia, vaccines and treatments per veterinarian guidance.
• Maintain clean exam rooms and restock supplies; support public areas and equipment.
• Demonstrate warmth, courtesy and professionalism to clients and patients.
• Communicate with veterinarians and team members about plans and concerns.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
