We are looking for a part-time Certified Veterinary Technician. We utilize our assistants and technicians to their full potential, with training provided to enhance technical skills.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review patient medical records, record treatments and charges.*
  • Restrain animals for Veterinarian as required.*
  • Maintain client educational materials.*
  • Perform blood draws, access veins, and minimize patient discomfort.*
  • Conduct specimen testing on blood, urine, or other samples as per medical orders.*
  • Assist Veterinarian with in-patient care, including maintaining IV fluids, drawing blood, and passing urithrocatheters.*
  • Induce and monitor anesthesia.*
  • Dispense medication and feed patients as directed.*
  • Communicate with pet owners about medications, potential complications, and warnings.*
  • Use computer systems to manage patient information.*
  • Perform lab work such as x-rays, blood tests, urinalysis, heartworm tests, FELV/FIV tests, fecal tests, cultures, and sensitivities.*
  • Document test results and deliver promptly.*
  • Prepare specimens for mailing according to practice standards.*
  • Ensure exam rooms are stocked with necessary materials.*
  • Maintain and calibrate testing equipment.*
  • Keep exam rooms clean.*
  • Set laboratory standards, update procedures, and train staff as needed.*
  • Assist with animal care tasks.*
  • Manage tasks related to x-ray procedures, including patient info entry and animal positioning.*
  • Take medical histories and vital signs.*
  • Admit and discharge patients.*
  • Process and log prescription refills, coordinate with pharmacies.*
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds, and stand or stoop for extended periods.*
  • Perform other duties as assigned.*

Qualifications:
Ability to perform all essential duties, multi-task, think quickly, and develop positive relationships with clients and team members.


Skills:
Proficiency in dental cleaning, charting, anesthesia, surgical prep, IV catheter placement, vaccinations, venipuncture, in-house lab work, and prescription filling. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a busy environment.

Education/Experience:
High school diploma or GED, with 1-2 years of related experience or equivalent education and experience.
