Job summary

Mount Dora Veterinary Hospital is a full-service animal hospital that welcomes emergency cases and routine care for dogs, cats, birds, and other exotic animals. We offer a friendly, calm environment to support pets and their caregivers, with opportunities for hands-on training and ongoing development.

The successful candidate will be a licensed CVT with a strong commitment to animal welfare, capable of handling fast-paced shifts, radiography, anesthesia, and surgical monitoring, while delivering

Qualifications

  • Must be a CVT with an active license.
  • 1+ year of professional experience preferred but not required.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work some Saturdays.
  • Strong client communication and medical record management skills.
  • Knowledge of veterinary procedures, safety, and hospital operations.
  • Experience with radiography, anesthesia, and surgical monitoring is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in restraint, triage, and nursing care for medical and hospitalized cases.
  • Collect and analyze lab samples, perform diagnostic imaging as needed.
  • Administer medications and communicate treatment plans to clients.
  • Prepare and assist in surgical procedures; monitor anesthesia.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and ensure infection control.
  • Uphold professional ethics and continue learning in a dynamic setting.

Job description

Mount Dora Veterinary Hospital is a full service animal hospital and welcomes both emergency treatment cases as well as pet patients in need of routine medical, surgical, and dental care. We regularly see dogs, cats, birds, and other exotic animals. Our medical care team has years of experience treating serious conditions and offering regular pet wellness care. Beyond first-rate pet care, we make our clinic comfortable, kid-friendly, and calm, so that pets can relax in the waiting room and look forward to meeting their care team!

Our hours of operation are:
Job duties include, but are not limited to:

Animal restraint, triage of incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

Qualifications
  • A Certified Veterinary Technician with an active license required, 1+ year professional experience preferred but not required
  • Consistent punctuality and reliability in adherence to scheduled shifts
  • Availability to work some Saturdays
  • Excellent client communication and medical record management skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of veterinary procedures, preventative care, and hospital operations
  • Expertise in safe and low-stress animal restraint techniques
  • Proficiency in various sample collection methods, including blood, urine, fecal, and skin specimens
  • Experience in radiographic positioning and image capture, with additional skills in dental radiography being a plus
  • Experience in anesthesia administration and surgical monitoring
  • Commitment to professional ethics and continuous learning
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to animal-related hazards
