Job summary

CityVet is hiring Certified Veterinary Technicians to join our team in a people‑first clinic environment. The CVT supports veterinarians by handling medical, surgical, and dental duties and by guiding unlicensed teammates to ensure smooth daily practice and client communication.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old at hire.
• At least 1 year of veterinary industry experience.
• Holds valid State License as Certified Veterinary Technician.
• Ability to properly and safely restrain animals.
• Knowledgeable in veterinary medical terminology and medications.

Responsibilities

• Assists Veterinarian in medical, surgical, and dental procedures, including anesthesia prep and restraint of animals.
• Supervises unlicensed team members performing tasks such as suturing, anesthesia induction, blood draws, and lab sample collection.
• Under Veterinarian supervision, may perform suturing, anesthesia induction, administer rabies vaccine, extract teeth in dogs/cats, and euthanasia.

The Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) is responsible for maintaining excellent patient care and operational productivity by helping the Veterinarian leverage their time and efforts to meet the needs of their clients and patients. The Certified Veterinary Technician works to relieve the Veterinarian from technical work and administrative detail to achieve greater levels of efficiency in daily practice. Certified Veterinary Technicians help facilitate and streamline communication from the operating room to the front office staff and most importantly, the client.

Essential qualifications:

• At least 18 years of age at the time of hire
• At least 1 year of veterinary industry experience
• Holds valid State License as Certified Veterinary Technician
• Understanding and ability to properly, and safely, restrain animals
• Knowledgeable on veterinary medical terminology and medication

A day in the life:

• Assists the Veterinarian in medical, surgical, and dental surgeries, including preparing clients for surgery by assisting in the administering of anesthesia and properly restraining the animals as needed for examination and treatment.
• Supervise unlicensed team members completing the following tasks: suture to close existing skin incisions and skin lacerations, induce anesthesia, draw blood, and take samples for lab testing purposes.
• Under direct supervision of a Veterinarian, the Certified Veterinary Technician may: suture to close existing surgical skin incisions and skin lacerations, induce anesthesia, administer rabies vaccine, extract loose teeth or dental fragments in dogs and cats only and euthanasia.
