Job summary

Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES in Stanley, NY seeks a Certified Teaching Assistant for Finger Lakes Technical and Career Center. The 0.90 FTE position will support classroom instruction and assist the teacher across a range of activities.

You will help maintain a safe, orderly environment, collaborate with staff, and communicate with stakeholders. NYS Teaching Assistant certification is required for consideration.

Job Qualifications

Only candidates who hold NYS Teaching Assistant certification will be considered.

Certification is required by the New York State Education Department - "Any person employed, as a teaching assistant, shall hold of one of the following credentials: temporary license, continuing certificate; or a Level I, II, III or Pre-Professional certificate. However, if an individual holds a teaching, pupil personnel, or administrative certificate, he or she need not also obtain a temporary license, continuing certificate, Level I, II, III or Pre-Professional certificate to serve as a teaching assistant, unless required by the employing district".

Essential elements of the position may require specialized knowledge and/or experience in the field and/or trade subject. Depending on the course there may be a requirement of successful completion of specialized training and/or safety certifications.
