Our education program strives to provide specialized, high-quality educational programming for students with and without disabilities across Western New York. Our programs serve Pre-K through 12th grade students in 6 schools, with a focus on blending academic and social-emotional support to meet the diverse needs of all learners.

Job Summary:

Plans and provides appropriate learning experiences for students with disabilities in various educational settings. Responsible for creating a flexible program and learning environment that offers specialized instruction. Substitute Teachers will perform these responsibilities on an “as needed” basis.

  1. Creates an educational climate that promotes success, independence, a productive atmosphere, and provides students with encouragement, safety, and stimulation.
  2. Follows lesson plans provided by absent teachers and implements lessons/activities accordingly.
  3. Consults with classroom team, therapists, and supervisors regarding students or families.
  4. Prepares and implements lessons tailored to individual needs based on the IEP.
  5. Demonstrates adequate knowledge of subject matter, critical and creative thinking, and individualized instruction.
  6. Creates and applies effective behavior management techniques or plans.
  7. Communicates effectively with parents via notebooks, phone calls, conferences, and district meetings.
  8. Completes log notes on student goals, progress, or regression, and leaves feedback for absent teachers.
  9. Complies with all relevant federal and state regulations and agency policies, including HIPAA and whistleblower policies.
  10. Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Skills:
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing situations

Hourly Rate: $26.50/hour

  • Bachelor’s Degree required

Experience: No prior experience required

License/Certification: NYS Teaching Certification

Physical Requirements:

The position is primarily sedentary with occasional light physical activity. The main physical demand is sitting. Frequent demands include standing, walking, talking, hearing, and coordination. Occasional demands include lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and reaching.
