Our education program strives to provide specialized, high-quality educational programming for students with and without disabilities across Western New York. Our programs serve Pre-K through 12th grade students in 6 schools, with a focus on blending academic and social-emotional support to meet the diverse needs of all learners.

Job Summary:
The Education Aide provides academic support and services to pediatrics, adolescents, and adults, adjusting for the effects of age, culture, background, experience, and developmental status. As a support for academic, behavioral, and life skills, this employee directly supervises students in areas of educational programming and activities.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Supervise students at all times.
  • Assist students with their academic work and daily school routines.
  • Interact with students in ways that are therapeutic, respectful, and trauma-sensitive.
  • Utilize preventative and de-escalation techniques consistent with Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI).
  • Assist teachers as requested and actively engage with students in the classroom.
  • Assist students with morning/evening transportation between cottages and school via agency bus.
  • Teach students living skills such as decision-making, personal control, interpersonal communication, problem-solving, dressing, grooming, and eating.
  • Ensure the daily routine, structure, and habilitative programming are maintained and standards are met.
  • Supervise and assist in transporting students as required.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Assist in planning and implementing the treatment plan.
  • Complete all required paperwork (IRs, logs, attendance, lunch forms, behavioral data) timely and according to policy.
  • Perform any other duties listed on the responsibility checklist assigned by the supervisor.
  • Assist students in maintaining and succeeding with individual behavior plans.
  • Perform any other duties as requested by your supervisor.

Experience:

Physical Requirements:

  • The position is primarily sedentary with occasional light physical exertion. Little exposure to environmental conditions.
  • Physical demands include standing, walking, sitting, climbing, talking, hearing, repetitive motions, and eye/hand/foot coordination.
  • Occasional physical demands include lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, balancing, stooping, crouching, reaching, handling, grasping, and feeling.
