Job summary

Physician Partners of America's Pinellas Park facility is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist (PRN) to support surgical teams by preparing instruments, maintaining sterile technique, and assisting with draping and instrumentation during procedures.

The CST ensures supplies are ready, assists with counts, passes instruments, and helps coordinate robotic arms or endoscopes as needed, while upholding patient safety and HIPAA compliance.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Graduate of approved Surgical Technologist School with certification.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification.

Responsibilities

• Collects supplies needed for surgical procedure and checks to ensure quality.
• Performs the surgical scrub; dons gown and gloves.
• Prepares instruments for procedure using sterile techniques.
• Performs initial instrument, sharps and sponge counts with the team.
• Assists team with gowning and gloving.
• Assists with the draping of the patient and establishing the sterile field.
• Secures tubing, cords, and other sterile accessories.
• Anticipates and prepares any additional supplies that may be required during the procedure.
• Foresees the needs of the surgeon and passes instruments/supplies during procedure as needed.
• Measures and passes medications, hemostatic agents and irrigation solutions used during procedure.
• Holds retractors or instruments as directed.
• Coordinates the camera or changes out robotic arms/instruments during endoscopic surgery as directed.
• Maintains highest standard of sterile technique during the procedure.
• Performs additional counts when required.
• Prepares sterile dressings and/or immobilization devices.
• Prepares and passes of specimen(s) as appropriate.
• Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization.
• Assists team with terminal cleaning of room.
• Assists in prepping the OR for next patient.
• Participate in debriefing and quality improvement plans to ensure quality patient care
