Overview

We are known for our leading surgical services, state-of-the-art, minimally-invasive procedures and robotics. You’ll work in partnership and learn from exceptional physicians and nurses who value your skills and share a passion for innovation and outcome excellence. A surgical tech or SPD role is a position to harness knowledge, support and potential surrounding you.

As a Surgical Tech/Scrub Tech You Will

• Work under the supervision of the surgeon and RN.
• Assist the surgical team during operative procedures by arranging and inventorying sterile setup of instruments, equipment and supplies, and passing items to surgeons and nurses as needed.
• Assist in preparing and moving patients and sterilizing and cleaning instruments, equipment and rooms.
• Previous OR experience required – 1 year minimum.

Day To Day Duties

• Scrub on all cases.
• Primarily, GEN, Urology, Ortho (Totals/ Trauma), Spine, Neuro, Plastics, Oncology, Robotics (DaVinci XI) and Trauma.
• Penrose specializes in Heart, Vascular surgeries with dedicated service teams for hearts and Vascular only.
• Associates are cross trained for all other services.
• Giving breaks and/or providing additional supplies and sterile instruments as needed during operations.
• Assisting with room turnover and restocking for next day’s cases.
• Maintain sterile field during procedures.
• Handing instruments to surgeons, anticipating surgeon’s needs.
• Maintaining and updating preference cards.

16 OR Suites

Approx. 600+ cases per month

Schedule

PRN – variable per surgical volume and current unit needs. Per policy PRN requires a minimum availability for 5 shifts in a 6 week schedule block and 2 holidays per year. Weekend availability required.

Call

No call required but extra shifts may be available to pick up. 30 min call back radius required if taking a call shift.

Qualifications

In addition to bringing your whole self to the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following:

• Basic computer skills required.
• One year of experience in a surgical setting preferred.
• Experience in a specialty field preferred.
• HS Diploma/GED required.
• Completion of an approved Surgical Technician program required.
• BLS from the American Heart Association required.
• Current registration with the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) as a surgical technologist for associates working in Colorado. A person performing Surgical Tech functions within the scope of another Colorado license, certification, or registration does not need to register as a Surgical Tech.
• Certification in Surgical Technology from NBSTSA or CST from NCCT required.

Physical Requirements: Medium Work - Exert up to 50lbs occasionally, up to 20lbs frequently, and up to 10lbs constantly.
