The Orthopaedic Surgery Center is a collaborative effort between the physicians of Concord Orthopaedics and Concord Hospital. The physicians of Concord Orthopaedics work with anesthesiologists, nurses, and operating room and recovery staff to ensure patient safety and excellence in care.

Day surgery centers - like the OSC - are designed for patients who are safe to come in and go home on the same day as their surgery. The procedures we offer at the surgery center are those which can be performed under local, regional or general anesthesia, and are deemed safe for a short post-operative observation period followed by an at-home, same-day recovery. At the OSC, we know surgery in any setting can be intimidating, which is why we strive to create an atmosphere that is comfortable, safe and convenient.

Summary

Provides surgical care to patients within the operating room under the supervision of perioperative nurses and/or surgeons. Utilizes AORN standards, recommended practices, and guidelines as a reference to ensure quality, safety and appropriateness of patient care.

Education

Graduate from an accredited surgical technologist program.

Certification, Registration & Licensure

Certification required to obtain: Basic Life Support within 3 months of hire. Medical Technician - NH Board of Registration of Medical Technicians.

Experience

A minimum of 1 year experience as a surgical technologist.

Schedule

Monday - Thursday 4 10 hr shifts.

Responsibilities

  1. Plans for surgical procedures by assembling instrumentation, equipment, and necessary supplies.
  2. Maintains the integrity of the sterile field by utilizing knowledge of aseptic technique.
  3. Assists surgeon and physician assist (P.A.) with activities at the sterile field.
  4. Participates and engages in center activities.
  5. Functions as a leader for surgical team.
  6. Performs sterilization of equipment.
  7. Assists with maintaining a clean and safe surgical environment.
  8. Proactively plans and participates in requirements for surgical case.
  9. Helps to contain supply costs.
  10. Performs other duties as assigned.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to bloodborne pathogens, bodily fluids. The employee is frequently exposed to airborne pathogens, moving mechanical parts, non-weather related heat or cold, radiation, slippery surfaces, toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to airborne contaminants, electrical hazards - shock, and vibration.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
