Compensation: Pay Range: $22.35 - $36.35 / hour. Our surgical department is one of the largest in the country with more than 55 operating suites.
Surgical technologists are vital members of the care team. At UAB, they work alongside nurses, anesthesiologists, and surgeons, maintaining and preparing instrumentation and equipment to ensure efficient case flow and high-quality care. Technical expertise is essential, but compassion, patient needs, and treating patients like family are equally important. We support new techs through orientation, robust training, and development opportunities, including continuing education and certification assistance. Both Certified and Non-Certified Surgical Technologist positions are available.

Job Description:
Qualifications
Graduate of a Surgical Technologist program or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Certification upon completion of the program or eligibility to sit for certification within six months of hire. Current certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) by NBSTSA or NCCT. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required or should be obtained within 30 days of employment. Additional certifications such as ACLS or PALS may be required depending on the department.
