Job summary

NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center in New York, NY is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist for the Operating Room on the Evening shift. You will function as scrub person, circulation assistant, and integral member of the surgical team for a high-acuity orthopedic service line.

Responsibilities include preparing and maintaining supplies and equipment, assisting physicians throughout procedures, and supporting patient care in a fast-paced OR environment.

Qualifications

• NBSTSA certified Surgical Technologist or eligible within six months of hire.
• Completion of a certified Surgical Technologist, Operating Room Technician or comparable training program or experience in an acute care setting as an OR technician/surgical technologist.
• High school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Provide scrub and circulation support to physicians during a wide range of surgical procedures.
• Assist in the care, preparation, and maintenance of supplies and equipment in the Operating Room.
• Work as a member of the surgical team to ensure patient safety and efficient OR workflow.

This is a full time position working 3:00pm-11:30pm at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center. Rotating weekend and alternating holiday shifts are required.

Preferred Criteria

• Prior experience as an OR/Surgical Tech in an acute care setting

Required Criteria

• Certified Surgical Technologist by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting Certification (NBSTSA) or if a new graduate, must supply exam date prior to start of employment. Certification must be obtained within six months of hire and complete a probationary period of six (6) months from date of hire
• Completion of a certified Surgical Technologist, Operating Room Technician or comparable training program or experience as on O.R. Technician/Surgical Technologist in an acute care setting
• High school diploma or GED
