Job summary

AdventHealth in Tampa, FL is seeking a Surgical Tech for a full-time, Day shift position. Responsibilities include preparing the sterile field, passing instruments, and assisting the surgical team during procedures.

Responsibilities

• Checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures.
• Scrubs, gowns, and gloves for surgical procedures.
• Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions as needed.
• Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation and before incision.
• Gowns and gloves surgeon and assistants.
• Drapes sterile field and passes instruments to surgeon during procedures.
• Maintains sterile technique during procedures and prepares sterile dressings.

Job Description:

• Checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures.
• Scrubs, gowns, and gloves for surgical procedures.
• Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedures, displaying knowledge of procedure and patient positioning.
• Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation and before the incision is closed.
• Gowns and gloves surgeon and assistants.
• Assists other team members with terminal cleaning of the room and preparing for the next patient.
• Handles surgical specimens with 100% accuracy.
• Recognizes and responds immediately to emergency situations appropriately.
• Helps in draping sterile field.
• Passes instruments and supplies to surgeon during procedures.
• Maintains the highest standard of sterile technique during procedures.
• Prepares sterile dressings and cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Interpersonal Skills [Required]
• Completion of validation skills [Required]
• Knowledge of sterile technique, instrumentation, equipment, and sterile field set-up [Required]

• Knowledge to anticipate critical emergencies of Specialty Call Team [Required]
• Ability to organize, promote, and conduct relevant in-services on unit [Required]
• Proficient in a minimum of 2 surgical specialties [Preferred]

Education:

• High School Grad or Equiv [Required]
• Technical/Vocational School [Required]
• Associate [Preferred]

Work Experience:

• 2+ years as certified surgical tech [Preferred]

Licenses and Certifications:

• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
• State Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) [Required] OR NBSTSA Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) [Required] OR Technician in Surgery TS-C (NCCT) [Required]

Pay Range:

$23.94 - $44.53
