Job summary

Cayuga Health Surgicare is seeking a Surgical Technologist for on-site work at 10 Arrowood Dr. in Ithaca. The role features 10-hour day shifts with possible call, flexible daytime hours, and no travel.

The team operates under established standards and supports patient safety across procedures. Required NBSTSA or NCCT certification or graduation from an Accredited Surgical Technology program with eligibility for certification within 12 months.

• Identifies and addresses safety hazards, follows universal precautions, and infection control protocols.
• Organizes tasks to meet patient and unit needs, adapts to changes, and stays current with education and policies.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Surgical Support: Assists with patient positioning, surgical hand scrubs, counts, and Time Out procedures.
• Safety and Infection Control: Identifies and addresses safety hazards, follows universal precautions, and infection control protocols.
• Accountability and Flexibility: Organizes tasks to meet patient and unit needs, adapts to changes, and stays current with education and policies.

Required Skills and Experience:

NBSTSA or NCCT certification OR Graduate of an Accredited Surgical Technology program, and eligible for certification within 12 months

Physical Requirements:

• Frequent hand and finger use (e.g., to operate a computer keyboard).
• Lifting and carrying items up to 40 lbs. (e.g., boxes, equipment, IV solutions), with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to stoop, kneel, or crouch for tasks such as retrieving items from lower shelves or filing in low drawers.
• Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods, as the position may require.
• Capacity to operate job-related equipment, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Location and Travel Requirements:

Onsite at Surgicare - 10 Arrowood Dr. Shift/Schedule: Days FLEX. 10 hour shifts. Call may be required. Rotating holidays and weekends. 0% Travel can be expected in this role

Pay Range Disclosure:

Standard Rate of $30.00 per hour to $42.02 per hour plus benefits, based upon experience Shift differentials for evenings, nights and weekends according to scheduled hours/shift Up to $15,000 sign on bonus applies to external hires who hold certification upon hire
