Job summary

Atrium Health is seeking a Certified Surgical Tech (Scrub Tech) for the CVOR. The position supports the operating room team under the RN, handling instrumentation, supplies, and sterile field preparation for procedures.

The role requires completion of a Surgical Technology program, a high school diploma or GED, and certification. One year of CVOR experience is preferred; shift pattern is four 10-hour shifts.

Qualifications

• Must have completed a Surgical Technology program (technical or military).
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
• Certification in Surgical Technology is required.

Responsibilities

• Under RN direction, assist in patient care and manage designated equipment.
• Take personal responsibility for performance, communication and teamwork.
• Be flexible with assignments, workload and skill-building needs.
• Prepare surgical instrumentation for sterilization and gather materials for procedures.
• Set up sterile field, instruments and equipment; assist surgeon and anesthesia staff as needed.

What You Will Do

• Under the direction of the RN, performs additional delegated duties and responsibilities in assisting in the care of the patient. Is responsible for designated equipment and supplies used in the case.
• Must accept personal responsibility for his/ her performance, communication, and relationships with others.
• Must be flexible in changing assignments, workload and learning new skills.
• Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Prepares surgical instrumentation for sterilization and pulls together needed materials for procedures.
• Prepares the sterile field, instrumentation and equipment for surgical procedures, anticipating the needs of the surgeon, and assist the nurse ,and the anesthesia provider as needed.

What Is Required

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Successful completion of Surgical Technology program, either technical or military

One Year Experience (CVOR Preferred)

• Certification in Surgical Technology
