Role Overview:

The surgical technologist participates in preparing and managing supply inventories, surgical equipment, operating room readiness, and provides clinical/technical assistance during operative and invasive procedures. Knowledge of surgical instrumentation, assembling complex mechanical devices, understanding anatomy, and strong anticipatory skills are essential. The role also involves staying updated on new products, procedures, and physician techniques. The technologist supports Surgical, CVOR, and GI services, working under the supervision of the perioperative registered nurse and surgeon.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure availability of supplies, instruments, and equipment for procedures, utilizing preference cards effectively.
• Maintain effective communication, uphold patient confidentiality, and interact professionally with all customers. Accept constructive criticism positively.
• Follow safety policies, including Universal Protocol, biohazard waste management, sponge/instrument counts, and aseptic techniques. Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
• Demonstrate competency in procedures within scope of practice, including instrument use, room preparation, and sterilization.
• Adapt to changing duties, prioritize tasks, and assist others proactively with minimal supervision.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program
• Certification as a Surgical Technician
