Job summary

Natick Surgery Center, LLC is seeking a Surgical Technologist to prepare the operating room and support the surgical team. You will sterilize and set up equipment, maintain the sterile field, and ensure high-quality patient care throughout procedures.

The role requires completion of an accredited surgical technician program and CST certification within 1 year, with at least 1 year of surgical tech experience. Massachusetts experience prior to 2013 is valued.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited surgical technician program or equivalent from an accredited school is required.
  • Certification (CST) required within 1 year of program completion.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of work experience as a surgical technician.
  • Experience in Ambulatory or Outpatient Surgery preferred.
  • Experience scrubbing on a variety of cases (orthopedic, plastics, general, and urology) preferred.
  • Experience in Sterile Processing Department preferred.
  • Strong team player with great attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and strong communication skills.
  • Mass experience prior to July 2013 (i.e., experience in Massachusetts hospitals).

Responsibilities

  • Selects, checks, and prepares case carts and preference cards with correct instrument, supplies, and sterile items to facilitate timely procedure start times.
  • Anticipates the need for special equipment and supplies before the procedure and requests it from the circulating nurse.
  • Checks that instruments and equipment are in safe working order and maintains the integrity of all sterile goods.
  • Passes instruments and supplies during the procedure and prepares for additional instrumentation needs.
  • Maintains the highest standard of sterile technique during the procedure.
  • Handles medications, hemostatic agents, and irrigation solutions as dispensed to the sterile field by a Registered Nurse.
  • Performs initial and closing counts on instruments, sharps, and sponges; performs additional counts as needed.
  • Prepares and hands off specimens carefully to the circulating nurse, ensuring labeling accuracy and safety.
  • Identifies, selects, and performs correct decontamination, cleaning, and sterilization methods for equipment and instrumentation.
  • At the end of cases, cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization.
  • Assists with stripping, cleaning, and setting up the OR suite for own or others’ cases with efficiency and speed.
  • Assists with OR flow as required and with maintenance of equipment and instrumentation to ensure future availability.
  • Supports fluctuating staffing needs of the department, demonstrating flexibility in assignments and work schedules.
  • Collaborates professionally with caregivers in and out of the OR suite, promoting teamwork and assisting with the precepting of new caregivers.
  • Identifies areas of conflict, intervenes effectively, or seeks assistance in conflict resolution.

The Technician supports the surgical team by anticipating the needs of the surgeon, maintaining the sterile field, and ensuring quality patient care throughout the operative procedure. Additional duties may include cost containment, efficiency improvements, and maintaining department performance.

Compensation & Benefits

This role is eligible for a $10,000 sign‑on bonus.

The pay range for this position is $27‑$48/hr plus benefits. Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors.

No holidays, nights, or on‑call. Day‑time hours, Monday‑Friday. Full‑time, part‑time & per diem opportunities available. Free parking onsite.
